A pavilion made of Polypiù multiwall polycarbonate becomes the new temple of padel: the Golden Goose Arena by Atlante is born at CityLife
The Golden Goose Arena marks the sporting debut of the famous Venetian fashion brand, born from a collaboration with City Padel, a company founded by Demetrio Albertini and Lorenzo Alfieri. The project has transformed a municipal pavilion in CityLife park into an experiential hub, designed by architect Fabio Novembre.
The ecosystem of spaces in the new arena dedicated to padel tennis consists of seven indoor courts and two outdoor courts in Wimbledon style, changing rooms and a lounge reserved for members, with spaces for smart working, meetings and warm-ups with personal trainers.
‘In a landscape populated by many well-known architectural works,’ explains architect Fabio Novembre, ‘the challenge was not to pursue a formal gesture, but to find a balance capable of integrating the architecture into the landscape, respecting the view of the park and dialoguing with the heterogeneity of the context.’
‘Made of polycarbonate, in the evening the structure becomes a luminous lantern,’ confirms Novembre, ‘a symbol of energy and community. Comfort is provided by radiant floor heating and a photovoltaic roof that contributes to the production of renewable energy, in line with the project’s sustainability principles.’
PanelPiù by Polypiù 500/60 in a neutral finish was chosen for the ground floor façades, ensuring maximum transparency. The 4-metre-high, 60 mm-thick panels provide static stability and allow the structure’s crossbar, to which the entrance doors and windows are attached, to be hooked in at 3 metres.
The corners of the walls were made with panels without profiles, but simply cut and folded, ensuring continuity of the material in accordance with Novembre Studio’s architectural concept. This technical choice required a high degree of precision to get the multiwall polycarbonate to the corners, allowing for correct folding.
For the upper floor of the building, the design studio chose PanelPiù by Polypiù 500/40 in the Opale finish, with a pearlescent effect that allows light to pass through but has a covering effect, ensuring greater privacy for the co-working and hospitality spaces.
The particular shape of the roof, in the cantilevered corner section, required the support of the Design Department and the company’s installers to ensure the correct curvature and torsion of the sheets during assembly on site.
