Opened in 1999 to mark the company’s 50th anniversary, the Kartell Museum was established to preserve and promote the brand’s cultural, design and manufacturing heritage. Located within the Kartell factory in Noviglio, on the outskirts of Milan, the large exhibition space houses a collection that traces the company’s evolution through objects, drawings and photographs that have made Kartell’s identity famous throughout the world.
In October 2025, the Kartell Museum opened its doors to its key client companies during DDAYS, the exclusive in-house event dedicated to the launch of the brand’s new products. PolyPiù collaborated on the exhibition design by supplying polycarbonate sheets CarboPiù 40 mm 12 walls used to create partition elements within the museum’s courtyard.
The exhibition design, overseen directly by Kartell’s Art Director, specifically involved the creation of various living spaces – lounge, living and dining areas – separated by lightweight partitions designed to evoke the aesthetic of glass screens. The search for a material suitable for this setting, to be installed on a cobblestone floor consistent with the brand’s material identity, led to the collaboration with PolyPiù.
Polycarbonate came into play during the project’s development phase, meeting the need to create lightweight, durable partitions that visually resemble glass. In collaboration with PolyPiù’s Research & Development department, Kartell selected the sheets best suited to the display and developed specific technical solutions for the fixing system and the stability of the elements. The polycarbonate screens were therefore fitted with transparent hinges to avoid the use of aesthetically intrusive technical systems and maintain the clean lines of the installation.
The colour range of PolyPiù’s polycarbonate panels proved well-suited to the sets designed for the event, whilst the speed with which the material could be sourced was crucial to meeting the required construction deadlines.
Durable, lightweight and flexible, the polycarbonate made it possible to create surfaces that not only perfectly mimicked the appearance of glass but also provided all the practicality required for a temporary installation.
For the event at the Kartell Museum, the collaboration with PolyPiù helped to create a scenographic system consistent with the project’s vision, which was appreciated by the clients attending the event and could potentially be replicated on future occasions.
