Onda Listening Bar was created as a hybrid space halfway between a cocktail bar and a listening room, designed to offer a multisensory experience that combines sound, light, and matter. The interior design project, curated by the Milanese architecture firm Solum, reinterprets the original layout of the venue with a refined industrial language, based on visual continuity between the rooms and the calibrated use of technical solutions such as steel, microcement, and integrated lighting.
In this interesting concept, polycarbonate EasyPiù 16mm was introduced during the construction phase as a key element to reinforce the material consistency of the project and deliberately detach itself from the typical aesthetics of a “domestic bathroom.” Chosen in a neutral version on a dark gray background, the alveolar polycarbonate echoes the visual effect of the steel used in the rest of the room, while ensuring lightness, practicality, and quick installation. The panels cover the bathroom walls, integrating mirrors and lighting fixtures through a sequence of vertical cuts that evoke a “barcode” effect, capable of filtering light and amplifying reflections and depth in a space without natural openings.
The ability to make cuts directly during installation optimized timing and processing, ensuring high compositional precision without resorting to more expensive or complex materials, such as steel.
For Solum Studio, this is the first time that multiwall polycarbonate has been used in an interior design project. Among its most appreciated characteristics are its durability, lightness, and above all, its fire resistance, an essential requirement in a context open to the public. Some time after its completion in November 2024, the solution has proven to be an effective choice that fully meets the functional and aesthetic requirements of the project: an experience that, as stated by the studio, would be replicated today, underlining the versatility of PolyPiù polycarbonate as a technical and expressive solution for contemporary spaces.
