The new flagship store of the Spanish brand Cold Culture in Barcelona offers an architectural interpretation of the bold and unconventional identity of the Madrid-based streetwear brand. Designed by the creative studio CULDESAC, the project transforms the retail space into an immersive environment where industrial aesthetics, technical materials, and emotional appeal coexist in harmony.
The concept is based on the idea of “crafted engineering,” a design language that combines industrial processes and artisanal sensibility to create a visually striking environment. Gray tones, raw surfaces, metal sheets, and large fiberglass elements interact with luminous and translucent materials, creating an urban and cinematic atmosphere designed for Gen Z.
Among the project’s most distinctive elements are the fitting room areas, constructed using 25 mm CarboPiù sheets in red—the brand’s iconic and instantly recognizable color. The translucent polycarbonate helps define enveloping, dramatic spaces, transforming a technical function like the fitting room into a truly immersive experience. Light passes through the surfaces, creating vibrant and dynamic effects that enhance the perception of space and reinforce the store’s visual identity.
The choice of polycarbonate addresses not only aesthetic needs but also performance requirements. CarboPiù sheets stand out for their lightness, impact resistance, and versatility of application—ideal characteristics for high-traffic contemporary retail environments. Furthermore, the material’s ability to diffuse light evenly helps improve visual comfort and enhance the interiors through controlled transparency and plays of color.
In the layout designed by CULDESAC, polycarbonate thus plays an active role in shaping the brand identity: not merely a technical material, but a narrative element that helps transform the store into a sensory and relational experience, consistent with the brand’s powerful and contemporary image.
