For the new Lacedel–Socrepes cable car in Cortina d’Ampezzo, a strategic infrastructure for mobility in the ski area ahead of the 2026 Olympics, PolyPiù was chosen to create the large transparent surfaces of the departure and arrival stations. The architectural design, by Gris+Dainese Architetti on behalf of ISTA Spa, interprets the Alpine context through volumes inspired by mountain huts, favouring materials and solutions that blend in with the landscape.

The PanelPiù modular alveolar polycarbonate system was used for the building envelope, in the 500/60 14P version with a neutral non-satin finish. The interlocking system, with no visible joints, allowed for the creation of continuous surfaces with a simple, contemporary design, while ensuring high static performance, resistance to atmospheric agents and excellent thermal insulation characteristics. The 60 mm thickness reduced the impact of the supporting structure, keeping the façades clean and light.

The neutral finish of the PanelPiù panels creates a slightly mirrored texture that reflects the mountain landscape, helping to integrate the building into its natural surroundings. The light, filtered through the polycarbonate surfaces and combined with the raw wood cladding, defines a bright and discreet architecture, capable of transforming itself during the day and enhancing the stations in the evening and at night. A project that fully expresses the versatility of PanelPiù in complex architectural applications with high landscape value.
